Bernie Property
The property is rolling to steep country with multiple springs. Forest remnants in steep gullies had been previously retired from grazing (approx. 4.74ha), but stock were not excluded from all waterways.
The objective was to extend the protection areas to retire all the stream margins on the property, an additional 1.96ha. A 20m average buffer was proposed, significantly more in places where the terrain was steep, not suited to grazing and made for logical fence alignment. A total area of 6.7ha was protected under an encumbrance, including those older retired areas that had not had any legal mechanism applied.
